Crazy how we post at the same time...
Anyhow - my first was your sisters car. Blue Dodge 600. Had that till part way through college then head on with an uninsured cadillac ended that. Then a 78 grand prix - that thing lasted about a month - what a HEAP. My white pontiac 6000 was next. Got that one from a repo auction via my uncle. That was nice until I was rear ended ant it was totalled. Got a HEFTY chunk of change from the insurance company - bought me a 95 ram. Good truck, sold to my dad and he still drives it today. I then bought the beast - dodge ram 2500 quad cam v10 - later lifted it and sold recently for something more practical - a jeep wrangler rubicon. Yea... practical :)
My car history in a nutshel.
Posted by todd at August 26, 2004 03:00 PMWow 3 different vehicles by the time you were 17? Did you crash the first 2?
I am only on my 3rd vehicle now! :(
My only high school car -- 1978 Buick Regal. Silver with burgundy interior, tinted windows, Kreger (sp?) rims. It was pimped. I could have had my dad's Jeep Cherokee - but back then, those were considered as geeky as a station wagon.
Posted by Jodi at August 26, 2004 03:05 PMWell.. the dodge 600 was the only one I had in high school. I just thought I'd put out my entire history since I know everyone is just SOOOOOO interested.
Posted by todd at August 26, 2004 03:13 PMOh man, you want the Vehicle list....man was I dumb....I should be a millionaire if I would have only kept that first Ford.
Plymouth Horizon
Fifth Avenuse
Jeep Wrangler
1997 Ford F-150 Extended Cab 4x4 Flareside (new style, I got in 95 - so sweet)
2000- Red Single Cab F-150 - Stick
2002 - Black Extended Cab F-150 4x2
2002 BMW Z3 (don't ask)
2003 - Ford F-150 Supercrew
Wow! I see lots of $$$ signs there!
My history is simple and not as draining.
1978 Buick Regal
1988 Honda Prelude 4WS (sweetest car ever!)
1996 Pontiac Grand Am
(was hoping the GA would last another year -- it was looking good, but in the past couple weeks it has started showing some rust on the hood/roof)
hmm... 2005 Mustang, RX-8, Miata, or Jeep????
Posted by Jodi at August 26, 2004 03:43 PMTodd, your Blue Dodge 600 rocked to no end. I miss that thing, especially when you played Space Invaders on the road with it when that woman's Chrysler mini-van opened in back and the groceries came flying at you. And then you had that plastic bag remain on the hood ornament as your victory piece. That was pure skill.
And that hunk of crap Grand Prix made you lose your beloved hair brush. It was the only thing that you forgot to clear out before selling it to the scrap heap. It was a good brush.
Posted by Jeff at August 26, 2004 05:02 PMA 1970 "Candy Apple Red" 1970 AMC Javeline, with a Landau roof. This was back in tha days of rock-n-roll, 8 track/cassette players and CB radios.
I had the Jav for about 10 years, put a nice stereo in it with six speakers. Sometimes, when it's real quiet and I'm alone, I can hear Boston's "More Than a Feeling" echo in my mind. Not a speck of rust was on the body when I sold her. What a car!
Next car was a Ford Ranger XLT. I also purchased a sweet, black Yamaha Seca 750 motorcycle that year. Nice bike...it was a real "crotch rocket." I jhad them both for about 5 years. Then I got married :(
Now, I drive a GMC Envoy or my wife's Dodge Caravan.
Posted by haywood at August 26, 2004 05:17 PMIn efforts to no longer be just a "looker", I'll chime in.
I had a '92 Dodge Dakota through high school and replaced it for a '97 Ford Escort for the drive to and from college in Ohio. A '97 Honda Civic was offered to me for a steal from my parents a couple years back and it has treated me great ever since - including when Mike's house attacked it last weekend.
Posted by Chris at August 26, 2004 05:25 PMOther than the DSR (Detroit Streets and Railways bus system)I drive my mothers 64 Dodge Dart. You wanna talk GEEKY! I had a number of hot rods that weren't drivable but I guess they don't count.
My first car was a Strawberry Neon. I think it was a 94 but I'm not sure. Some little old lady owned it and only put a few thousand miles on it. It had a sun roof and an upgraded speaker system - not bad! I also believe it had white wall tires. That all ended after a little accident (not my fault) with another Neon where my car was totalled.
That was replaced with a Nissan Altima (95?) that I drove until I graduated from college and bought the 2001 Nissan Xterra. The Altima was sold to my office manager's daughter who promptly totalled it.
Posted by Dee at August 30, 2004 08:34 AMAh, the strawberry neon!
My first official car of my very own was my Uncle Matt's Cougar. It must have been an early 90s model, and it was purply brown in color. It was so loud, it sounded like a jet engine taking off. My friend Liz and I used to gun it down 18 mile rd pretending we were on a runway. So ridiculous.
After that, things are pretty boring:
1994: Nissan Altima. Black and shiny. Loved it. It was brand-spanking new.
2000: After putting 100,000+ miles on the ol' Altima, I traded it in for the famous Mandarin Orange Explorer Sport. My favorite thus far.
2002: In foresight of my impending layoff, I decided to downsize to my current ride, the gray Focus. At least it's a Z5. It treats me good. 32 miles to the gallon, baby!
