I emailed Circuit City about my Shuffleupagus yesterday because it hadn't shipped yet (and should have shipped a couple days ago). Last night, I received an email back. I don't know if it is in response to mine email or just a generic blast sent out to all purchasers of the Shuffle...
Email I received from Circuit City:
************************************************
Dear valued customer,
Thank you for pre-ordering the iPod Shuffle. Due to
manufacturer inventory delays, we expect to ship your iPod
Shuffle no later than Wednesday, Feb. 9. If you have any
questions, please reply to this email.
Thanks for shopping with circuitcity.com and we hope you shop
again with us soon!
************************************************
Now, I suppose it's not that much longer to wait, and maybe it is the manufacturers fault, but I just don't understand how you can list an item IN YOUR INVENTORY for someone to buy online and then suddenly not have any to ship. Pretty lame if you ask me. I will just have to have a little patience (which, for those of you who know me, know is asking a lot from me) and hope it ships a little early.

Mike and I decided to be good little health nuts and go to the Bally in Arlington. It's right by the Pentagon - how cool is that! It should be way easy to find. One quick little mishap on the way there, but we figured it out. BONUS: It's only 10 minutes from our hotel!
Mike:
Dee, (henceforth known as navigator) did an awesome prep job, and printed out directions to the gym before we left on our trip. I was the only authorized driver of our hot rental trailblazer, so in we piled and off we went.
Navigator:
Mike (henceforth known as driver) is very good at changing lanes and last minute freeway changes - and trust me - the freeways intersect and change at least once every 20 feet. Other drivers keep honking at us, but hey, we don't know where we are going - we are from Connecticut (according to our license plate)!
Driver:
ok, so I missed an off ramp. near the pentagon (which will quickly become a theme),
Navigator:
Sorry. I was so impressed with seeing the Pentagon that I forgot about directions. Trust me - it's cool....the FIRST time...
Driver:
but I recovered using the special "man-sense" of directional driving. "I passed it, so I'll turn around and look until I find it."
Navigator:
We worked out. The gym was HOT! By that I mean, high coolness factor and EXTREMELY HIGH temperature. Now, we get to go to the hotel, shower and get dinner. Boy am I hungry!
Driver:
You don't reaaly want to be around her when she's hungry. As she is RIGHT NOW, as we type this, but anyway, we've got directions, so we should be good
Editor's Note:
Current Time: 6:35 pm
Navigator:
You know how MapQuest gives you the option of printing "Reverse Directions"? Well, why bother, right? Just use the ones you have and go backwards! Um...yeah...you'll see...
Driver:
looking for Joyce to turn left on, looking for joyce to turn left on.....
Navigator:
Hmm...we didn't go this way before. Let's just keep going to we see our freeway. Remember how I earlier stated that the freeways change every 20 feet? Yeah...
Driver:
look! the pentagon!
Navigator:
Cool! We must be going the right way. Although, I don't quite "feel" it...Hey, isn't that the Lincoln Memorial?!
Driver:
I think thats the jefferson memorial, lincoln is over there.
Editors Note:
At this point in the story, neither the Driver nor the Navigator realizes that they should not be SO CLOSE to these monuments....
Driver:
Were we supposed to cross the river?
Navigator:
We crossed the river?
Driver:
crap. lets turn around. if we're near the river, were near the hotel. we can find it.
Navigator:
Okay, but I'm not really feelin it still. Let's just try 395 South.
Driver:
Look! The pentagon!
Navigator:
Crap. But hey! We can find it from here!!
Driver:
ok. joyce to turn left didn't work. lets try something else. (navigator navigates us into little mexico)
Navigator:
Um...Driver took us to the ghetto CVS. I suggested turning around and trying to figure it out. Driver decides to be a little girl and stop for directions. Did I mention we were in the ghetto (aka Little Mexico). In we go to CVS and ask our friendly cashier (BRUNO - I swear to God) for directions:
Driver:
first off, my man sense of direction was overridden by her unsatiable hunger, so i stopped as a concession. not out of need. i knew right where we were. near the pentagon. So I ask Bruno: ?Usted sabe conseguir al aeropuerto?
Bruno:
ummmm. ?que?
Navigator:
New approach. I have this map. Where are we now?
Bruno:
ummmm. ?que? let's ask my manager
Editor's Note:
Our heros now follow Bruno around for 10 minutes to find someone knowledgable. [Enter manager]
Mangaer:
?Que? Airport? That's easy!
Driver and Navigator:
Great!!
Manger:
Turn Left.
Driver:
Look. The pentagon!!
Navigator:
Okay! We can find it from here!! This time, lets follow the signs to our airport. We are right by there!
Driver:
Piece of cake!! 17 turns later, we arrive at the airport!! Wait - isn't that George Washington Parkway?
Navigator:
Yes! That's our road!!
Editors note:
And our tired heros finally arrive back at their hotel (in a crappy parking spot) around 7:50pm. For a 10 minute drive.
Navigator:
I decided to run those handy "Reverse Directions" this morning. It was a COMPLETELY different route to get home. And, only 6 minutes! Not 10 like on the way there! Go figure...
Editor's note:
And that ends our story. We hate DC.
Driver:
Look! The pentagon!
Hey all!
Sorry about the downtime, but it had to be done. I was getting 1000's of spam posts a day and it was just too much work to delete them all. I've implemented a CAPTCHA scheme supplied here.
You now have to enter a code that appears in an image to make a post. Sorry for the hassle, but a script spamming my site can't read images! Let me know if you have any problems.
Due to a ton of comment spam lately comments may be down for a day or two while I figure something out...
Hang in there!
ok. I was having a discussion yesterday about a cereal I loved as a kid. I couldn't quite remember the name. Some google-ing today led me to beleive that they were Kellogs Raisin Squares. I think they also came in Strawberry Squares and Blueberry Squares. Maybe even Apple Squares. Timeframe is somewhere in the late 80's to mid 90's. The challenge is to turnup a picture of the box so I can be sure. I know I can count on you to make this happen.
They were so tasty! Any other long lost cereal favorites out there?
We are bad people.
We just keep forgetting it.
How could we do that?
Has anyone seen these things yet? I may have just bought one...I'm not sure how that happened, but it did.
After checking many sites, it appeared that Circuit City had the quickest delivery method: 3-9 days. Amazon had a 30-40 day waiting period and Apple was 2-3 weeks. It's crazy!
Check it out: http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/
remember the name. now use it in a sentance. for example "If given the choice between eating at tokyo sushi in royal oak and having my nuts coated in superglue and hanging by them from a steel beam, I would choose the nuts thing."
It's a sorta dumpy place inside, but hey, you give the benefit of the doubt 'till you try the food. If you can try the food, that is. 1 chicken teryaki and one chicken/egg with rice please. (after a wait of forever to even take our order, though we were exactly 50% of the patrons) 5 minutes later, "you have to choose something different. Our chicken is still frozen and we can't serve it to you." At this point, we were tempted to leave, but we had already been served Dole Salad in a Bag with ginger dressing, so we thought we'd stick it out. We also ordered some "japanese pickles."
We made some different choices (involving beef this time) and waited for our meals. One came out. It was wretched. Seriously. The worst beef you have ever choked down, on top of a salt lick of crappy (decidedly NOT soba) noodles. Since the other meal was nowhere to be seen, we split the first one. (Having already dicided the pickles were worthless, think: "wet/limp/wormy/unidentifyablevegetableanyhow" and you'll have the idea)
The second "meal" arrived. It was the same assy beef, in a bowl this time, on top of white rice and drowing in weak stock from beef boulion cubes. I have had far better "authentic asian" food out of a can from that aisle in the grocery store where you can't read the labels.
So, we choke down another few bites, only because I was starving, and the server/mistressofwhoeverisresponsibleforthiscrime cleared our plates and noticed we hadn't eaten many of our "pickles" (this, despite my attempts to push them around on the plate to make it look like we had). She then admitted she had no idea what the pickles even were.
Finally, we left. I wanted to stab the place. We decided, quite easily, that we would never return. I returned 20 minutes later. To recover a forgotten scarf. I just wanted to go to the taco bell drive through and get 2 grande meals to wash the taste out of my mouth...
We had a table marked as "crashed".
We lost the plant naming thread, but everything repaired. Officially "a close one".
My plant is sprouting!
Was this forcasted? I don't remember hearing about this downpour of snow. It's not like it's stopping either! Of all the days to be lazy and not put my car in the garage...had I been warned about snow, I would have done some driveway rearranging and made sure to get in the garage!
I simply suck at dialing by letter. 800-527-3278 I can handle. 800-jar-fart I cannot. It takes at least twice as long to dial.
Since we are posting old pictures...
I thought I'd post one from when I was working on that movie Spaceballs. I was the understudy for Barf the Mog. This is a picture of me in full make up on set.
I had to post my old pic from back in the day...... so hot...
