Jim and I decided to play Bingo on the last day of the cruise. It was 10:30 am on a "day at sea" so a ton of people showed up - nothing else to do! It was a quick game - one game, one winner. The winner won a 3,4,5 or 7 day Carnival cruise.
We're playing and it's not looking too good for me. Jim leans over and says, "I only need I-20". The next ball comes up and the lady says, "I-twenty" and Jim and I hold our breath as we wait for the rest of the number. 23? 26? NOPE! Just I-20!!!! Jim totally won a free cruise! ROCK!
So within the next year, we get to go on another cruise. We can't go during Christmas or New Years, but that's it. We pay taxes (which were about $75 for this cruise) and airfare. It's an ocean view room too, so not bad! Once we decide when and where to go, we'll let everyone know. It would be super fun to get a group of people to go!

Congratulations and thanks for continuing to keep me posted on the additions to your income this year!
Don't forget to claim the value of that cruise on your 1040 tax return, line 21, "Other Income," along with your lottery ticket winnings from earlier this year. Keep up the good work....your government thanks you.

Just a thought...donating the cruise to the "Haywood Foundation" would be an excellent tax deduction.
Posted by: haywood at June 28, 2005 05:23 PMI would love to donate the cruise, but it's nontransferable. What a bummer.
Our goal is to win a cruise each time we go on one. That way, we'll have an endless supply of trips! How fun!
Posted by: Dee at June 29, 2005 09:10 AMknowing this, I would definately give bingo a try if I was ever on a cruise. How cool!
Posted by: todd at June 29, 2005 09:32 AMI can just see you sitting there Todd, with like 60 Bingo cards and one of those magic markers that leaves a big dot on your card after they call one of your numbers. You'd have all of your good luck charms stacked in front of you as you nervously tried to check all 60 bingo cards after each number was called.
You should find out if you can drink beer while you're playing? I can see it now....
Bingo Caller: B 48.
Todd: BIN **BURRRPPP** GO!!!!!!
The little tables are too small for too many cards. It was tough enough with 3 cards to check, let alone 60! They make it all difficult on you too because instead of marking the number with a marker, you have to punch out the number and fold it back - have to be on the ball when they call the number!
We didn't "drink and bingo" (dringo?) at the same time. We did, however, partake in celebratory mudslides after!
Posted by: Dee at June 29, 2005 11:39 AMSo yeah winning the cruise was sweet, but now comes the hard part...
Figuring out who to take.
Posted by: Jim at June 29, 2005 12:04 PMIf you know what is good for you, you'll take me.
I mean, I love you...please take me! Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
:)
Posted by: Dee at June 29, 2005 12:14 PMI like you an awful lot too Jim! :)
Posted by: haywood at June 29, 2005 12:45 PMHey Jim, I'll buy dinner on Sunday if you take me.
Posted by: Ray at June 29, 2005 01:48 PMmy neighbor was just telling me she was playing BINGO and hit for $2k but her mom was talking to her (complaining about the smoke or something silly) and by the time she realized it, they had moved to the next number. I didn't realize it was that cut throat!!
With Jim on such a lucky streak, maybe you should have detoured to Vegas on the way back.
It is cut-throat! If they call another number and someone else gets the bingo, they make all of the "winners" go up and grab a bingo ball and whoever has the highest number wins. Can you imagine losing that way? I'd pull the 1. That would suck.
I was supposed to buy a lotto ticket last night to continue the luck and I forgot. :(
Posted by: Dee at June 29, 2005 03:01 PMJim,
Forget Ray! Dinner AND a movie.
No grabbing the bingo balls! :)
