Anyone watch the game last night? So good! It ruined my plans of going to bed early, but that's okay. It was worth it! Amazingly, I still managed to get here before 7:30 today!
Haywood - how did the big baseball game go on Friday?
Posted by dee at June 7, 2005 08:40 AMBaseball Update: We lost to Cincinnati Elder 6-0. Elder was ranked 1st in the state and 17th in the entire nation. Needless to say, they have a great team.
My son Jon played a great game defensively and had one of the team's hits. It was sad watching him play his last high school baseball game. Jon finished the season leading his team in hits, stolen bases, on base percentage, and had a .989 fielding percentage. He was also selected First Team All League.
Thanks for asking about the game and for putting up with the ramblings of a proud father.
GO PISTONS!! I hope they win it all.
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 09:19 AMForgot to mention....Cincinnati Elder ended up being the Ohio State Champions in Division I. My son's school(Mentor)ended up taking third after being ranked 13th in the state in the final coaches poll.
Jon will play baseball next year at Akron University.
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 09:56 AMHe has diverticulitis and a very bad infection. I am just printing off some info on it to take up to him. So far I haven't seen the dietary recommendations say anything about limiting beer ... I think he'll be relieved.
Posted by: Jodi at June 7, 2005 10:16 AMCongrats! Not too shabby :) Sounds like you'll still have a lot of games to go to!
Posted by: Dee at June 7, 2005 10:19 AMHaywood, Congratulations to your son!
I spent all last night at the hospital with one of the fab 4 Rabbit crew. Periodically someone would walk through the emergency room with a Pistons update. Didn't sound good the first time we heard they were down by 20. Go Pistons!
Todd was starting to sleep when I left around 3 am. It was scarey for awhile there. He is doing better but will be in the hospital for a few days. I'm sure he'd appreciate some extra thoughts and get well prayers the next few days.
Posted by: Jodi at June 7, 2005 10:24 AMOh my God....What happened to the T-O-Double D!!!???? Remember I live in Ohio.
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 10:29 AMI'm sorry to hear that. I'll keep Todd in my prayers.
I did some quick research and I guess this can be cleared up with rest and diet. But, it look's like he's gonna have to eat stuff that my kids feed to their gerbil...like alfalfa leaves, red clover and yarrow. PITTOOEEE!!!
Someone also oughta tell Bahzilla to keep an eye pealed because I heard Basil leaves are also good for treating this.
Get Well Soon Todd!
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 10:44 AMGood News. All tests and doctor visits are complete. He has to finish a couple more bags of medicine but they are starting him on liquids and then solids. If all goes down well, he'll be home tomorrow.
Russ (his new pet cow from Mike and Dee) is hanging out on his bedrail watching over him. His work sent a really awesome flower arrangement. He sure appreciates everyones thoughts and well wishes.
Yep, the doctor talked about all the dietary changes. I don't think it'll be too bad. Not liking popcorn is already 1/2 the battle.
Sadly Bahzilla was left behind when he moved. I think Madhavi might be caring for him. It's Todd's new strawberry garden that will be sad he won't be able to thrive on its plentiful strawberry bounty (hehe...there are currently 2 berries but a few more trying to grow up).
Posted by: Jodi at June 7, 2005 03:20 PMThat's good news about Todd. Hang in there Big Fella!!
I read somewhere that if an infection sets in, this can be pretty serious. But, I was thinking that a guy like Todd normally wouldn't have to worry about something like this. His innards should have been "pickled" by now given all the beer he drinks. I guess not.
Good to hear he's feeling better though.
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 03:46 PMWell, I want to talk to Todd, but sadly his phone is off. Obviously since he's in the hospital. So Jodi, please send my well wishes to the big lug for me.
Posted by: Jeff at June 7, 2005 04:16 PMWill do Jeff. Hopefully he has better luck taking a nap than I have.
Posted by: Jodi at June 7, 2005 04:38 PMJodi....All kidding aside, please give my best wishes to Todd for a speedy recovery too. I will keep him in my prayers.
Posted by: haywood at June 7, 2005 04:57 PMAction requires knwoldgee, and now I can act!
