So, camping was super fun this weekend! The weather was great, the tubes were a hit, the water was actually sort of warm (after a while). Besides the slight leg burn and the amusing tan lines on my feet (just wait...a picture may be up at the end of today), everything went pretty well. Everything that is, expect the mosquitoes...
As soon as we got out of our car, we were attacked by a ton of mosquitoes. Long sleeve shirt, long pants, socks and shoes it was...along with a ton of OFF! Apparently, that is not enough to deter these little pests. Before I got in the shower this morning, I counted at least 50 bites. I swear that I am not exagerating. It's horrible. My back is like a war zone. They are on my hands, feet, stomach, face, etc. I don't know what I did to deserve this. My entire body itches...
Posted by dee at June 23, 2003 12:00 PMMosquitos like some people more than others.
I can't stand using bug sprays - they make me feel all wierd!
I think the mosquitos are getting while the getting is good - its been crap weather and I'm surprised there were even that many bugs around.
Posted by: todd at June 23, 2003 12:39 PMWe were camping on property next to the "Sand Man". This neighbor guy digs up holes all over his property and sells the sand. That's all fine and dandy for him, but it leaves standing water everywhere! Hence, the outbreak of the bugs...
Posted by: Dee at June 23, 2003 12:42 PMwho buys the sand?
Posted by: mike at June 23, 2003 01:10 PMWho knows...this guy seems a little off though...there is this boat with wheels on it and then a car standing vertical with the trunk on the ground and the hood up in the air - both these concoctions are just hanging out on this guys property...guess there isnt much else to do up there :)
Posted by: Dee at June 23, 2003 01:13 PMother than sacrifice yourself to the mosquitos.
I wish I had a boat with wheels.
Posted by: mike at June 23, 2003 01:16 PMI wish I had some sand.
Posted by: todd at June 23, 2003 01:33 PMI think sleepy people buy the sand from the sand man?
Posted by: todd at June 23, 2003 01:33 PMWe have sand at work. Lots of bottles of it.
I wonder if Dee got any sand in a bottle from the sandman.
Posted by: mike at June 23, 2003 01:35 PMoops...no...I was too busy fending off the mosquitos to bother with sand. sorry :(
